Newfargie House was built for a General Trevelyan in around 1865. It was a much larger house at that time with a wing to the side which has subsequently been restricted to one floor.

A fire destroyed part of the house in the 1970s after which it was partially rebuilt. It is now a good sized family home which retains much of its original character. The house is well laid out over three floors with the majority of the rooms arranged to benefit from the views.
