    About this property

    • Listed Grade II of Special Architectural or Historic Interest, Oak Farm is believed to date back to the 16th century and is constructed from a fine oak timber frame on a brick base with rendered colour washed elevations under a long pitched peg tiled roof. Internally the house, which has been extended over the centuries, provides numerous period features that include exposed beams and close studwork, oak panelling, mullion windows, open fireplaces with impressive surrounds and over mantels, stone and oak floors and well proportioned rooms with good ceiling heights. There is an impressive vaulted dining hall and the kitchen is fitted with shaker style units. The house displays some of the very finest features of the period and is also mentioned in Pevsner's book of Suffolk houses as the best farm house in the curtilage of the village. There are two staircases to the first floor where there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The second floor has two further impressive vaulted bedrooms (used for storage) and a large attic room.

Oak Farm is set back from road screened by established yew trees with the main southerly elevation facing over the established gardens. The gardens are a particular feature of the house with a large pond, lawns interspersed with shaped and well stocked beds and to the rear of the house is the old moat. The property further benefits from a large parking area and various garden outhouses along with a greenhouse, a well and productive vegetable garden and asparagus beds.
