Grove Park is superbly situated in secluded parkland, within walking distance of the village of Yoxford, which has excellent day-to-day facilities, while the nearby market towns of Halesworth and Saxmundham provide more extensive amenities. The popular towns of Woodbridge, Southwold and Ipswich the county town of Suffolk provide an extensive range of shopping, recreational and educational requirements. Set in the undulating and sought after Suffolk heritage coastline Grove Park is equidistant between Southwold and Aldeburgh, which is well known for its renowned music festival at Snape, home of the Britten/Pears concert hall. There is a train station at Darsham with services to Ipswich from where there are regular main line inter city trains to London's Liverpool street station.
Grove Park is an impressive Grade II Listed country house of Special Architectural and Historical interest. The house is understood to date back to the 16th century and rebuilt in the 1770's for Eleazar Davy, possibly by James Wyatt. The construction is of red brick under pitched slate and tiled roofs. Approached via a long gravelled driveway, Grove Park stands in a stunning elevated position overlooking its beautiful parkland.
The accommodation is arranged over three floors and incorporates a self contained ground floor wing. The reception rooms are all well proportioned with high ceilings, large sash windows and decorative cornice work, fireplaces and panelled doors. There is a small indoor heated swimming pool with connecting conservatory and changing area. The first floor is reached via two staircases, the main staircase features an impressive wide staircase with a mahogany handrail and leads to a fine galleried landing and on to the main run of bedrooms and bathrooms. The secondary stair is located off the rear hall which has a stone flagged floor and which also gives access to the cellars and the rear courtyard. On the second floor are further bedrooms and a nursery wing with playroom and kitchen.
The gardens are separated from the park by wrought iron fencing, giving uninterrupted views of the park from the house. The gardens are set mainly to the south of the house with raised lawns leading to a pond and beyond to the woodland. To the far end of the wood is the hard tennis court, now requiring renovation. There is an enclosed courtyard to the rear of the house with garaging for several cars and general storage areas. A gateway through the wall leads to a fully walled sheltered courtyard and to the boiler house for the indoor pool and an access back to the house.
The park has an established belt of trees around its entire perimeter and there are some outstanding trees throughout. To the far north western boundary is a stunning walled kitchen garden with a wonderful orangery/greenhouse along the far end wall.
