Charming seafront villas
Zorkos, Andros, Cyclades
These 4 villas are part of a residential development of 24 units, unique due to its location, design and quality, comprising a comprehensive self-sufficient luxurious village. The layout of the development follows that of the traditional, archondikon villages of the Cyclades, with central squares, strategic view points, tavern, pathways and an outdoor amphitheatre, combined with some modern additions such as swimming pools, gymnasium and helicopter port. All the buildings are situated amphitheatrically and have unlimited view to the sea and the river basin, while being constructed with high quality materials in a traditional style, with all the modern necessities.
Andros belongs to the renowned islands complex of the Cyclades and it is situated 35 nautical miles east of Athens. Andros is rich with historical monuments that reflect its glorious heritage. In recent times, during the 19th and 20th centuries, Andros prospered due to her strategic position in shipping and trade. Andros is the home of internationally renowned ship-owner families, who have contributed greatly to the continued cultural and artistic development of the island through donations and the establishment of museums and galleries such as the Goulandris Museum of Modern Art. Their continued investment and support has established Andros as an internationally-recognised cultural centre. With her natural beauty, numerous beaches, natural springs, traditional architecture and her cultural heritage, Andros rightly claims her place as one of the most attractive islands in the Cyclades.
Zorkos Bay, where the project is located occupies the delta of the Makrotandalos River, which sustains a unique biotope and nature reserve. Recently the area was characterized as a preserved area by the Greek State preventing any further development or alteration. The bay’s turquoise crystal waters and beach which stretches from golden sand to multicoloured marble pebbles establish it as one of the most beautiful beaches of the Aegean, ideal for relaxation and sea sports.
More than ten years of careful research by some of the best Greek architects have led to the design and development of the 24-residence Village. A series of luxurious and independent villas are harmoniously positioned on the carefully landscaped valley, paying full attention and respect to the natural environment. More than 14 km of traditional-style stone walling has optimized the planting of olive groves containing mature trees, some of which exceed 100 years of age, vineyards, vegetable gardens and flowering plants. The orientation of the land protects the Village from the north winds and its position next to the sea, arranged amphitheatrically above the river, allows full view of the Aegean Sea and the river landscape. The architecture of the buildings is a marriage between that of north Andros and the neoclassical style of the Chora and south Andros. The architects have combined the use of traditional natural building materials such as stone, wood and slates, and characteristic Andriotic techniques to achieve the traditional appearance, but at the same time have maximized upon modern technologies to ensure that the buildings are comfortably habitable throughout the year.
In addition to high architectural standards and luxurious leaving conditions the complex offers a wide variety of services and common facilities such as a swimming pool, gym, bar, traditional tavern, mini market, market garden (vegetables and fruits), professional fishing boat and crew, speed boat and mini bus. The complex will be serviced throughout the year by permanent warden and caretaker, gardener and cleaning and catering staff. A small independent ‘guesthouse’ unit may always be offered as a possibility.
