About this property

  • Dating back to about 1850, this charming stone and slate detached house has been in the same cherished ownership for the last 40 years. Superb harbour views can be enjoyed from the two reception rooms and the kitchen.

This delightful home has been recently upgraded and begins with the welcoming hallway which gives independent access to all the ground floor accommodation. The current configuration allows for one storey living if required. A modern dining kitchen overlooks the harbour and enclosed front garden and has a comprehensive range of off white finish base, wall and drawer cabinets. These are complemented by granite polished worksurfaces. A central island provides further storage and countertop space. Appliances include a Bosch dishwasher and upright fridge/freezer, Neff built in microwave, and an oven with grill, halogen hob and cooker hood. Integrated and concealed is a washing machine and a dryer. There is a matching polished granite circular dining table. The dining room has a harbour aspect and an open fireplace. The principal bedroom has a side window along with built in wardrobes. The modern bathroom is fully tiled with a white suite including a double end bath and separate shower enclosure along with a concealed cistern and wash basin set in vanity furniture. A carpeted staircase has a landing window. The well appointed sitting room enjoys the same fabulous aspect as the dining room, this time with an elevated harbour view. The tiled fireplace houses a wood burning stove and a fitted bookcase adds to the cosy ambience. Opposite is bedroom two with built in wardrobe. A spiral staircase leads to the versatile attic room. There are two windows providing views, along with radiators. This room has been used as a home office.

Outside: A low level whitewashed wall shelters the raised decked area and is a lovely spot from which to watch the sailing activity within the harbour.

The town hosts an annual real ale festival in June. Along the bay is an award winning fish and chip shop and an Olympic-sized Art Deco open-air swimming pool where, in the summer, you can swim under the stars in water that is heated to a balmy 29 degrees. The Victorian town hall hosts gigs and cinema screenings; the town's four schools are rated 'very good' or 'good'; and there is a cliff-top golf course and a busy yacht club.
