    • Sutton-on-the-Forest is a picturesque conservation village north of York city centre (about nine miles), this highly regarded village has a primary school (Ofsted Good 2018), preschool and toddlers playgroup, church, playing fields and children's play area as well as an hourly bus service to York, there are also a number of clubs and societies within the village hall. Sutton Park hosts a summer festival and Huby and Sutton Agricultural Society Show each year. Il Paradiso on the Forest, is a very well rated Italian restaurant situated on the York Road near Sutton Park and is linked to the one on Walmgate in York. The restaurant/tea room on the Sutton Park estate, Miss Daisy's is always busy and is currently applying to extend its license to open more in the evenings.
    • The village of Huby (about one an a half miles) is the closest village with a shop, post office, two public houses, a fish and chip shop, Chinese take-away and a village hall.
