Location
Gardeners Farm lies on the outskirts of the New Forest National Park at Plaitford, west of the historic market town of Romsey, between Southampton and Salisbury. The property takes direct access off Flowers Lane and is just 1.3 miles from the A36 at Landford providing routes to both Salisbury and the M27 at Southampton.
Description
Gardeners Farm was built for duck production but has been used as a laying unit by the current owners. The site has not been operational since 2020. The property consists of four sheds, of concrete block wall construction under profile steel sheet roofs with 200mm of rockwool insulation, ridge fans and side vents for ventilation. The four sheds are identical in size and extend to approximately 48,000 sq. ft. in total. Each shed is fitted with nesting boxes and a belt system connected to the central packing hall, which offers a staff kitchen, office and WC. Each shed is serviced by an 18 tonne silo bulk food storage bin. A farm workers bungalow, built subject to an agricultural occupancy condition, is situated in a private position to the south of the sheds, built in 2006 to accommodate staff. The bungalow has three bedrooms, and is of red brick construction under a tiled roof. To the east of the bungalow and poultry sheds lies an area of pasture, hosting an abundance of flora and fauna.
