Hillhead of Barrack lies on the outskirts of the village of Auchnagatt which is situated between Turriff and Peterhead in Aberdeenshire.

The land is classified by the James Hutton Institute for Soil Research as Class 3(2) arable land. The soils are made up of mineral podzols of the Strichen series. The land lies between 115m and 165m above sea level.

The fields are of a good size for the efficient working of machinery and are capable of growing a range of crops including potatoes. The fields to the north of the public road are fenced and are generally in good condition. The fields are accessed either internally or via the public access road.
