Arable land on the outskirts of Stevenage
Coloured green on the plan and extending to 46.220 hectares (114.20 acres)
Located to the east and southeast of the farm buildings and accessed from both Brookfield Lane and Ford Lane. The land has been farmed recently in a traditional cereals rotation. The land slopes down to the river Beane which forms the eastern boundary. The land is farmed under a contracting agreement which terminates after the 2018 harvest.
The land is all classified as Grade 3 on the Land Classification Soil Series of England and Wales. The soils are a mixture of the Hanslope, Hornbeam and Swaffham Prior Series. The Hanslope and Hornbeam Series are described as having a high clay content whereas the Swaffham Prior Series has a higher chalk content. These soil types are capable of growing high yielding cereal crops.
