Helland Barton lies to the south of Delabole in the pretty parish of St.Teath in a beautiful undulating valley and close to the breathtaking north Cornish coastline, where the Atlantic Ocean meets high cliffs. The contrast between the towering cliffs and sandy beaches is quite awe-inspiring and the area provides some of the best surfing in the British Isles.

The picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac, with its sandy harbour, is five miles to the south and the fashionable market town of Wadebridge sits beside the River Camel, less than ten miles to the south west.

The first recorded mention of the homestead of Helland Barton
was in 1345, and it was owned by the farming Martyn family from the 17th Century until the middle of the 19th Century, when they emigrated to New Zealand. Around this time the farm consisted of approximately 400 acres and employed 19 labourers. For the next 100 years, Helland Barton was owned and farmed by the Muttons, a Cornish mining family whose descendants remain in North Cornwall.
