About this property

  • A sweeping driveway leads up to a most attractive stone-built country house. It was built over 200 years ago to replicate the style of architecture that exists at the adjacent Kair House which was designed by Robert Adam. Coach House, close to the site of a Roman Camp, was converted in 2003 when it was completely overhauled and renovated.

In marked contrast to the classical period look on the outside, internally there is a thoroughly modern and contemporary feel within the original shell. There has been a continuous programme of refurbishment and upgrading since the original conversion.

The main features are the abundance of natural light resulting from the original coach house carriage entrance doors, the atrium roof and Sky-frame doors to the rear. The staircase is very much the centrepiece of the house and the thoroughly contemporary feel continues throughout. The bespoke kitchen, installed by Kitchen International, is incredibly spacious and high quality fittings abound.

There are specific features which give an additional ‘wow factor' including extensive underfloor heating, a Lutron lighting system, porcelain flooring on much of the ground floor area and classic Occhio lights all around. There is also an integrated Sonos music system. The Drawing Room has a HWAM cassette insert log burner providing a terrific heat whenever desired. There are also 2 bespoke galleried landings and double height ceilings giving an altogether spacious feel making the house absolutely ideal for entertaining.

Externally there is a double garage and a stable block which has been converted internally and is suitable for any number of uses such as games room, gym, home office or indeed may be converted back to stables, so together with sand manege and paddock, the property offers considerable equestrian facilities.

The attractive gardens surround the property are mainly laid to lawn with shrub borders and trees and there is a feature pond fed by a natural spring. The overall feel is that of seclusion and privacy and Coach House sits neatly in the very small exclusive hamlet of Kair.
