About this property

  • Situated on the edge of this desirable village stands this impressive Grade II listed former mill offering 3,627 sqft of accommodation arranged over 3 floors with large walled gardens, garage, converted outbuilding and carport.

Mayfield Mill is a spacious Grade II listed former mill now converted into a modern family home offering spacious accommodation arranged over just 3 floors. The property benefits from large walled gardens, outbuildings, a garage and carport. The property dates back to the early 19th century when it was a working mill and is attached to Mayfield House, a classic Georgian gentrified home. The property is an ideal family home within a pretty village setting, with approximately 3,627 sqft of internal space and 4 double bedrooms, each with its very own stylishly fitted en suite bath/shower room. On the ground floor is a large welcoming entrance hall as well as a large kitchen/dining room fitted with a quality kitchen, integrated appliances and dressed with granite work surfaces. The kitchen also links to the rear terrace and garden via double doors, making it very much the central hub of the home. Another fine feature of the house is its first floor drawing room with tall vaulted ceilings and mezzanine level with glass balustrade and staircase. The home enjoys period features which include open fireplaces, exposed beams and stone walls in places, which all remind you of its historic past. Although a period property, the interior has a fresh and contemporary feel throughout, with plenty of natural light as many rooms are dual aspect. At the very top of the home there is a large attic, approached via a private staircase, making an ideal teenage den or great hobbies room. Many of the rooms to the rear have views overlooking the gardens and surrounding countryside, and to the front there are views of architecturally pleasing village homes.

    Outside
From the kitchen, double doors open on to a large, sunny and attractive patio, perfect for al fresco dining. From here is accessed the garden to the side of the house, a peaceful and private spot under the shade of magnificent mature trees. Adjacent is the converted outbuilding currently utilised as a gym, but could be a perfect home office. A pretty brick archway leads through to the expansive walled garden with further patio and well planted herbaceous borders. The double garage and carport are positioned at the rear of the garden accessed by a quiet lane.

This former mill has such wonderful lateral accommodation over just three floors, and Rode is one of my favourite villages in the area.
