About this property

  • Dating back to the 1940's, this charming detached property was once the village post office and converted to a residential property in 1985. Today its rustic façade is beautifully maintained, while an exemplary interior is both contemporary and sympathetic to its history and heritage. Commendably arranged to give a hugely fluid feel and provide every opportunity to step out into the gardens, an impressively sized layout extends to over 2000sqft and unfolds from a central hallway. From the tastefully chosen window shutters to the soft subtle palette, every aspect is exceptionally curated.

An elegant fireplace with an original tiled hearth lends a wonderful focal point to a marvellous double aspect reception room that is both sophisticated and homely. Across a hallway a stained glass porthole window adds a vibrant pop of colour to an excellent sitting room with a log burner. Its generous dimensions open into a superb study where the first of a trio of French doors connect you with the secluded patio. The natural flow of the accommodation leads the way to the adjoining formal dining room and on into a magnificent kitchen/breakfast room where further French doors make it easy to step outside for al fresco entertaining. Producing a wealth of storage and workspace, the superior kitchen is supremely well appointed with painted Shaker cabinetry, wood countertops, an Aga and integrated appliances, while the broad central island of the breakfast room gives delineation to the space. A cloakroom and additional utility room complete the ground floor.
Echoing the commendable aesthetics and leafy outlooks, four notable first floor bedrooms are filled with light. A tremendous double aspect principal bedroom has tasteful fitted storage and a stylish en suite shower room, whilst the others share a modern family bathroom.

The property sits back from the lane behind the established hedging and climbing roses of its walled front garden. A paved path curves its way to the quintessential canopied doorway framed by sizable lawns and established beds of lavender and shrubs, generating a picture perfect first impression. A detached large garage sits to the side providing the convenience of secure off-road parking.

At the rear of the property, three sets of French doors entice you out onto a tranquil terrace that has a prized measure of privacy. Prompting a classic English country garden feel, it supplies an idyllic spot to relax and unwind. Bordered by statuesque hedgerows, an extensive lawn stretches out before you. A majestic tree proffers dappled shade and a timber sheds sits discreetly away with handy storage for garden tools.

Local information

  • Ferry Lane is a coveted location in Medmenham, a lane of pretty mostly detached homes that leads to the River Thames. A public slipway is at the foot of the lane giving access to the water for local residents. Medmenham is delightfully semi rural yet perfectly positioned for access to both Marlow and Henley-on-Thames, being 3.5 miles and 4.5 miles respectively.
  • The towns of Marlow and Henley offer an eclectic mix of local independent and national retailers. There are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants around the towns suited for any occasion. Both towns are situated on the banks of the River Thames and the Thames Path follows the river through the towns. Just outside the town centres, the area opens out to glorious rolling countryside and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Outdoor pursuits are numerous, as are golf, football, cricket and rugby clubs. For commuters, both towns have train stations to Paddington (via Maidenhead and/or Twyford) and the M40 and M4 motorways are accessed from the A404(M) which pass the towns.
