Handsome Family Home in sought-after village.

About this property

  • This spacious, period-style, architect designed family house, was built in 2017. It is well configured, with nicely proportioned and light-filled rooms. Double doors from the entrance hall lead to the large kitchen/breakfast room, which is the hub of the house. It has a central island, a range of shaker-style cupboards under quartz work surfaces and integrated appliances, including a gas hob, double oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Wide French doors open out onto a large, sheltered area of terrace. The adjacent, dual-aspect, family room has a fireplace with a wood-burning stove and, again, French doors onto the garden. A sitting room, with a bay window, a study and a cloakroom are all accessed from the main hall and a utility room, with fitted cupboards, sink and plumbing for a washing machine, is adjacent to the kitchen and has a useful ‘back' door to the terrace.

A turned staircase from the hall leads to a galleried landing, with two substantial built-in airing cupboards. The principal bedroom is a particular feature of the property having, as it does, French doors to a Juliette balcony, with far-reaching views to the water-meadows beyond. It also benefits from two sets of fitted wardrobes and an en suite bathroom. There are four further bedrooms, one with an en suite shower room, and a family bathroom.

    OUTSIDE
To the front of the house is a gravel parking area for several cars, separated from the house by a low run of box hedging. There is access to the back garden on both sides of the property, with an area of stone paving housing a greenhouse, timber storage unit and log store.

A spacious terrace spans the width of the house at the back, giving way to the garden, which is predominantly laid to lawn. The rear boundary is a combination of hornbeam hedging and timber panelled fencing, with shrubs such as wisteria and honeysuckle trained across it. A stone path leads across the lawn, through a rose and honeysuckle draped pergola, to a Summer House, with power, that could potentially be used as a home office.

I really love this property. Its a beautiful family home in one of my favorite areas of Salisbury. A peaceful position with uninterrupted views over the water meadows from the Principal bedroom.

Local information

  • The Parry is located in a quiet and exclusive cul-de-sac of just five houses in the centre of the ever-popular village of Stratford-Sub-Castle. The village lies south-west of the ancient medieval settlement of Old Sarum, on the outskirts of the beautiful Cathedral city of Salisbury. The oldest building in the village is the Grade I listed Church of St Lawrence, which dates from the 13th Century. There is also an active village hall and a primary school. A level riverside walk, of approximately 21 minutes, takes you to a large Waitrose store on the edge of the city. This riverside walk continues into the centre of Salisbury, offering a wide selection of shops, restaurants, arts and recreational facilities. Trains from Salisbury to London Waterloo have a journey time of approximately 90 minutes.
  • Racing is available at Salisbury Racecourse and Wincanton and golf at South Wilts Golf Club and High Post. This area is renowned for its fishing on the River Avon, Test and outlying chalk streams.
