About this property

  • Recorded as dating back to the 17th century, Lower House is Grade II listed and was formerly two houses, one of which served as the village bakery. Principally constructed of natural Cotswold stone the property has been extended at some stage by way of a two storey extension at the rear and the current owners have overseen a programme of renovation and improvement during their tenure. The accommodation is stylishly presented and decorated in a subtle palette of colours to create a calm and light interior.

The property offers three excellent reception rooms with lots of character, a superb vaulted kitchen/breakfast room with bi-fold doors to the terrace and garden. There is also a well appointed entrance hall and a boot room/cloakroom. Upstairs there are four spacious bedrooms with good ceiling heights. The principle bedroom is dual aspect with views over to the Evenlode Valley and has a separate shower room. Bedroom two, three and four are served by a well-appointed family bathroom.

A drive off the village lane provides parking, turning space and access to the garage. The gardens are well-established with a lawned garden to the front behind railings. The rear garden is a good size with a mature lawn and a number of specimen shrubs and trees including a magnificent Yew tree. A paved terrace accessed from the kitchen is the perfect place for al fresco dining. A stone outbuilding provides useful storage. The gardens extend around the side of the house from where there are lovely views to the lower part of the village and beyond.
