Barn style house with distant views over open countryside.

About this property

  • Peacock Barn is a detached barn style property constructed in 2018. The house has Shou Sugi Ban charred wooden cladding which gives the property a unique colour and appearance beneath a slated roof.

Internally the property has good accommodation extending to approximately 2090 sq ft overall. Of particular note internally are the large bi-folding doors to one end of the property at ground and first floor which provide great distant views over the surrounding countryside. The main sitting room on the ground floor has a feature wall with raised hearth and monogrammed columns to either side with the Fairhaven initials and recessed accent lighting set into the ceiling together with a further set of French doors to one side. The kitchen units have Corian work surfaces and include integrated Gaggenau electric fan and combination ovens with a warming drawer, a hob, an integrated dishwasher and a large “corner” fridge. In addition on this floor there is a further reception room/ bedroom 4 with an adjacent shower room. A cloakroom and a large utility/ plant room.

At first floor level the main bedroom has a Juliet balcony and wide bi-folding doors with incredible distant views together with a range of built in wardrobes. There are two further double bedrooms and all the bedrooms have high quality en-suite bathrooms.

The property has high energy saving credentials with underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators upstairs all powered by a ground source heat pump system with an integrated heat recovery system. The property has a B energy rating.

Peacock barn is situated just outside the village alongside the Newmarket Road on a site edged by open farmland. There is ample parking to the front and a mainly lawned garden with some trees and shrubs.

The vendors own the neighbouring estate and there may be further land available if required. Interested parties should enquire of the vendors sole agents for further details.

This property is available with no onward chain.

In all , approximately 0.7 acre.

This is the first property I have seen with Japanese Shou Sugi Ban charred wood weatherboarding which give the property a really unique and colourful look – the views from the main reception and bedroom over open countryside are really lovely and connect the house beautifully with its surroundings.
