About this property

  • Broomhill is a bungalow occupying an elevated position on the rural outskirts of the village and sitting back on a plot of just over one acre at the end of a long drive. The property, which has been occupied by the same family since it was built in the 1950s, has red brick elevations under a tiled roof and provides accommodation extending to approximately 898 square feet. The layout is configured to provide a hall, a sitting room, a kitchen, a rear lobby, two bedrooms, a shower room and a conservatory, which is a later extension built in 2011 and provides views up the garden and over the surrounding countryside. Double glazing was also installed in 2012. The property has been beautifully maintained and is in an immaculate condition but the interior is dated and in need of modernisation. There is scope, subject to the necessary consents, for remodelling of the existing building or possible replacement by another property.

The bungalow is sited a considerable distance back from the lane and is well secluded. It is approached by a long driveway culminating in an area of hard standing providing onward access to a detached garage to the left of the house and two outbuildings beyond; a large garden store/workshop with an open parking bay and another, more modern detached studio/workshop with power and lighting. The garden has been beautifully planted and is enclosed on all sides by mature shrubs, hedgerows and some magnificent trees.

View payable Stamp Duty for this property

I know this will excite the market as opportunities like this so rarely come up in this area. The situation, views and potential are quite something.

Local information

  • Little Baddow is a very desirable village surrounded by a wealth of National Trust and heathland and situated in a picturesque conservation area at the heart of the Chelmer Valley. It has a highly recommended preparatory school (Elm Green), two long-established churches, a village hall, its own sports ground and clubhouse (which is home to a local cricket club during the summer) and two public houses (the General's Arms and The Rodney). The nearby village of Danbury to the north has its own extensive range of local shops, amenities and schools (including Heathcote Preparatory School and Nursery) and is only 5 miles due east of the city of Chelmsford, which again offers an excellent choice of facilities, with a bustling shopping centre, two outstanding grammar schools, access on to the A12 and a station on the main line into London Liverpool Street.
