About this property

  • Gallangad Lodge, once the hunting lodge to nearby Ross Priory, is a beautiful country home that provides peace and seclusion and a perfect opportunity to embrace “the good life” and the surrounding wildlife. With approximately 6.5 acres of grounds, the tended gardens include an orchard, a wild meadow, beautiful woodland walks and trout fishing on the picturesque Gallangad Burn. The lodge has a full range of outbuildings including garages, external office, greenhouse, workshops and garden stores to house bikes, kayaks and outdoor equipment all of which are essential for taking advantage of the surrounding countryside and grounds.

Gallangad Lodge itself was formerly a hunting lodge and bears all the trademarks of its previous 19th century existence. With its cosy wood panelled snug with log burning stove and original panelled ceiling, there is a further log burner in the hallway with wood panelled doors off, and an open fire in the spacious bright drawing room which has large windows and a window seat looking to the north out over the lower garden, woodlands and hills beyond.

The property is constructed mostly on one level with four bedrooms downstairs including a magnificent principal bedroom suite with luxurious en suite bathroom and walk in wardrobe; and a guest bedroom with en suite shower room. All the bedrooms are generous in size and blessed with stunning rural views while the fifth bedroom/office on the first floor offers dual aspect views across farmland to the south and the mountains to the north. The property has a traditional styled country kitchen with wooden work surfaces on top of ample storage, a Belfast sink, central island and breakfast bar and an AGA at its heart. This open plan kitchen dining room also displays beautiful wooden flooring, as seen in the hallway.

Outside, Gallangad Lodge has beautiful scenery and gardens as well as a splendid decked terrace with glass balustrade for alfresco dining and offering the perfect vantage point for viewing the paddocks, river and woodlands below. A timber garage, workshop, greenhouse and kitchen garden with raised beds are located to the rear. Additional stores, an outside office with adjoining garage and a large Nissen hut with electricity are also located within the grounds.
