About this property

  • An interesting private island with about 250 ft perimeter river frontage on the main flow of the River Thames.

The seller has in the past used the site for mooring a private vessel, and recreational use such as private entertainment and fishing.

One side has a built-up mooring, the other a more natural tree-lined bank. A domed pergola stands in the middle of the island as a pretty feature.

    Agent's Note
The outlines of the plot marked on the site map and photos are meant to be indicative only and are not necessarily accurate.

There are no services (electricity, water, drainage) on the island.

What a lovely little retreat, such a rare commodity on the open market.

Local information

  • Temple Weir Island is perfectly positioned in the downstream weir pool, near to Temple Lock, giving access to river upsteam towards Henley and downstream towards Marlow.
  • The position just off from the entrance to the lock reduces passing river traffic, creating a quieter spot to moor.
  • The nearest town of Marlow (being less than two miles downstream) offers a superb range of retailers, with an eclectic mix of local independent and national retailers. There are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants dotted around the town offering destinations for any occasion. The town itself is situated on the banks of the River Thames and the Thames Path follows the river through the town.
  • Just outside the town, the area opens out to glorious rolling countryside and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Outdoor pursuits are numerous, as are golf, football, cricket and rugby clubs.

Additional information

  • Bidding Information
  • The owners are seeking offers in writing on the terms outlined herewith. A tried-and tested ‘sealed bid' process gives each party an equal and fair opportunity to submit an offer with surety that it is presented in the best light and at the right time. Should you wish to make an offer to purchase this property, please do so on the following basis:
  • 1. Best and final offers are to be in writing in a sealed envelope marked for the attention of Richard Maby and marked with your name on the back (so that you can ring us to check we have received it) to our office in Marlow, or by email to rmaby@savills.com with the subject reading “Offer for Temple Weir Island”. Neither the envelope nor the attachment will be opened before the deadline.
  • 2. Offer to be received by 12.00 noon on Friday 5th July and to be made subject to contract. You should state whether it is subject to any other conditions.
  • 3. Offer to be made in pounds sterling and given in figures and words, to be a fixed amount and not to be expressed in conditional form relating to other offers received, e.g. offers will be rejected if they say anything like “my offer is 10% higher than the next highest offer received”. Ideally offers should be expressed as an uneven figure (to avoid two offers of the same sum being made).
  • 4. Offer should indicate your financial position in terms of funding arrangements and whether the purchase is dependent on a related sale and, if so, the progress of that sale. Proof of cash funds will be helpful, if you do not require a mortgage.
  • 5. Offer to be made for the property as described in the enclosed sales particulars. The guide price is ‘Offers in the region of £75,000' but it may be that it secures a substantially different sum.
  • 6. If you have one, the name, address, email address and telephone number of your solicitor would be helpful.
  • Once our client has made a decision you will be notified whether or not your offer has been successful. We would stress that our clients are not obligated to automatically accept the highest offer (or indeed any offer). Offer preference will include consideration of the overall picture – price, timing, and surety of the sale (i.e. our confidence in your buying position).
  • Directions: Follow the river upstream from Marlow, the island is on the left hand side of the river flow, before Temple Lock.
