About this property

  • House of Mailer is understood to have been constructed in the 1920s and extended in later years. The house is characterised by its irregular roof lines and windows with arched and semi-circular themes giving the house an intriguing Art Deco charm.

Doric style columns frame a covered entrance to House of Mailer which leads to a vestibule and then a welcoming hall. Its timber floor flows into the sitting room through double timber panelled doors. The sitting room has a decorative open fireplace as a focal point and is open to the conservatory which works well as a dining room. The conservatory is encased in a large bowed window with decorative arched windowpanes. French windows from the conservatory open into the garden. The kitchen also has a lovely timber floor and a pretty bow window as well as a two-oven cream AGA. It has Shaker-style kitchen cabinets and a Belfast sink. At the north side of the house is a rear vestibule, a utility room, a boiler room and a WC. There is also a cosy family room. House of Mailer has three bright south facing double bedrooms on the ground floor as well as one bathroom. On the first floor there are two further bedrooms, a bathroom and lots of good storage. The principal bedroom is a large room with plenty of character and potential as well as a fabulous view.

    Outbuildings
A range of outbuildings are situated behind the house. Currently they include a garage, a greenhouse and garden stores as well as three rooms which have most recently been used as offices. There is also a WC.
Subject to obtaining the relevant consents, there is great potential to convert these buildings to suit a buyer's requirements.

    Outside
House of Mailer is set in about 1.13 acres of garden which is mainly down to grass with some pretty herbaceous borders at the front of the house. The lawn is planted with spring bulbs and there is an attractive woodland at the eastern boundary of the property.
