    About this property

    • The Stray is a charming detached property built in 1925 of brick with white painted, roughcast rendered elevations with some half timbering effect, beneath a slate roof with deep overhanging eaves and high chimney stacks. The property has not been offered for sale for over 30 years and has provided a superb family home during that time.

      It is a fine example of 1920's architecture with a strong Edwardian influence, having plenty of character throughout including high ceilings, many with covings, period doors, windows and fireplaces, and of particular note is an impressive turned staircase with oak handrail and balusters rising to a galleried landing.

      From the vestibule double doors open to the entrance hall which forms a lovely centre of the house and off which are all principal rooms. The drawing and dining rooms both have twin aspects over the gardens and decorative fireplaces with open fires, the drawing room also having a deep bow window.

There are several mature trees including horse chestnut, silver birch, holly, beech, cedar and eucalyptus which all help provide for a mature a impressive setting.

      The path which leads around the house also extends from the main garden back through a gate to the drive and front door.

    On my first visit to The Stray I was so taken by its lovely position. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the house sits centrally within these - a perfect setting.
