The mouth of the river is located just a few hundred metres from the property's garden and can be accessed via a beautiful riverside path. The river Doon has been romanticised many times, most notably by the poet Robert Burns in his narrative poem Tam O'Shanter where he talks about the Brig O'Doon located in the nearby village of Alloway, the birthplace of Robert Burns.
