  • Wharf Cottage has one of the finest positions in the famous Kyles of Bute with panoramic views. The property is within walking distance of local grocery shops and hotels, as well as a nine hole golf course and a tennis court. The nearby village of Tighnabruaich has an assortment of shops. along with its own primary school. Secondary schooling (day and boarding) is available at Dunoon (24.5 miles) Close by is The Kyles of Bute shinty ground. Tighnabruaich Sailing School - just outside the village at Carry Farm, is one of the most highly regarded sailing schools in Scotland. There are two art galleries close by and Portavadie Marina has been a great addition to the area with its marina facilities, health spa and restaurant. From here there is a ferry across Loch Fyne to the village of Tarbert on the Kintyre peninsula giving quick access to that area. The 5 minute ferry from Colintraive makes the island of Bute another easy option for day trips from Kames. The only working ocean-going paddle steamer in the world, The Waverley, glides past the house at times during the season and is a magnificent sight.
