About this property

  • The Dovetails sits in an elevated position on the northern edge of Bridge of Callly with open fields on its south western boundaries and a view over the top of the village to the hills beyond. The property was built by the current owners in 1990 and is a wonderfully comfortable and practical home that has been adapted over the years to suit the owners' requirements. A welcoming entrance hall in the middle of the house divides the main reception rooms from the bedrooms which are on the eastern side of the house. The large and bright living room has ample space for large pieces of furniture, picture windows, sliding glazed doors and a wood burning stove. It is connected on one side to the dining kitchen giving a lovely open plan feel to the house. The kitchen feels both spacious and cosy with its two oven oil-fired Rayburn. It also has a central island and a dining table which sits beside glazed doors that lead to the garden. From the kitchen there is access to the utility room and a back door. On the eastern side of the reception hall is the office, two double bedrooms (one with en suite bathroom) and a shower room.

    Annexes
Two self contained one bedroom annexes have been created at the eastern end of the house where there was once a garage. Originally created for relatives, these independent annexes have also worked well as holiday lets. They could be re-arranged to suit a number of requirements including home offices or studios, or (subject to obtaining the relevant consents) they could be integrated into the main house. The annexes are served by a secondary utility room. Both annexes have sliding glass doors to decked terraces that overlook the garden and fields beyond.

    Outside
The Dovetails is approached through timber gates that open to a neat gravel parking area. The garden amounts to about 0.37 acres and is enclosed by clipped hedging. At the front of the house is a spectacular border of different coloured heathers. There is a paved terrace, an ornamental pond and a pretty summerhouse on the western side of the garden. To the rear is a sheltered strip of garden which is ideal for growing vegetables.
