About this property

  • The Old Bakery is a pretty period family home, dating back to around 1907, and is one of three of the original homes in Station Road. The property used to be the village bakery until around the 1950's where it is then believed the property was occupied for residential use and has been superbly refurbished by the current owners to create a beautifully presented family home, with the perfect blend of contemporary additions and charming period features.

On the ground floor is a stunning open plan kitchen/breakfast room which has been refitted by the current owners and provides fantastic living space. There is a range of bespoke wooden units, designed and fitted by ‘Stephen Anthony designs', with a central island unit, space for an Aga, the original bread oven inset into the wall and a butler style sink with windows enjoying a view over the rear garden. A real feature of this room is the attractive exposed brickwork which extends across one wall of the kitchen and continues into the breakfast room; an excellent space for entertaining with patio doors opening into the garden. Other reception space includes the formal dining room and a c.23ft dual aspect sitting room with patio doors opening to the garden, both rooms featuring open fireplaces and dado rails. There is also a laundry room and cloakroom on the ground floor.

The bedroom accommodation on the first floor includes a triple aspect principle bedroom with exposed wooden flooring, an outlook over the rear garden and a contemporary, fully tiled, en suite shower room. There is an additional double bedroom guest suite with an en suite bathroom with a separate shower. The remaining two bedrooms are serviced by the family bathroom.

    Outside
The property is approached via a gravelled driveway providing off road parking and in turn leads to the double garage. There are two entrances into the property; one to the side with a magnificent oak framed porch, and another to the front leading through to the ‘traditional' entrance hall.

The Old Bakery is set back from the village road and has pretty gardens to the front. The more formal gardens lie to the rear of the property and enjoy a south westerly aspect and include an extensive patio area which can be directly accessed from the breakfast area and sitting room. This leads to a further circular outside seating area which is perfect for entertaining, relaxing and dining. The gardens
from here are predominantly laid to lawn and have lots of areas which have been attractive planted with flowers, shrubs and well established trees.
