Exceptional Period Townhouse

About this property

  • Toppesfield Hall forms the principal part of an outstanding and immaculately presented period house, with off road parking, cart lodge, garage and a generous southwest facing garden.

Toppesfield Hall is believed to date from around the 17th century and has later Victorian additions.

The house is Grade II listed of special architectural and historic interest and retains many wonderful period features including picture rails, sash windows, wall paneling, deep skirting boards and original coving.

Typical of buildings of this age the house comprises well-proportioned, light-filled rooms with high ceilings throughout.

The front door opens in to the spacious entrance hall with delightful paneling, exposed wooden floors and a wood burning stove; doors off lead to the elegant drawing room, double aspect dining room and through to the superb kitchen/breakfast room.

The kitchen/ breakfast room comprises ample storage, breakfast bar and a beautiful bay window, which overlooks the garden, flooding the room with natural light. Off the kitchen there is a useful utility room, which also provides access to the garden.

From the entrance hall stairs lead up to the first and second floors. The first floor has a large landing serving four good sized, light filled bedrooms, three of which have en-suite bathrooms. The principal bedroom in particular has an en-suite and benefits from a balcony overlooking the garden.

The second floor with impressive beams has two further good sized bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Toppesfield Hall offers exceptional accommodation throughout. It is light and bright and has wonderful high ceilings. I also love how ammonites are so close by.
