- Ivy Cottage is situated in Poynings, a very pretty downland village in the South Downs National Park, at the foot of Devil's Dyke. The village offers a popular public house (accessible via public footpath from the house), a village hall, a church, a playing field, a cricket pitch and a garden centre with cafe and farm shop.
- For local amenities, the larger villages of Henfield (five miles) and Steyning (seven miles) have an assortment of local independent shops together with public houses, restaurants and schools.
