About this property

  • Chedworth is a delightful Cotswold village which straddles the Coln Valley, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is situated off the beaten track but extremely accessible. The village is steeped in history and supports an active community which benefits from a highly regarded primary school, pub, tennis club and a range of society meetings in the village hall or ancient church.

Saffron Hill is a traditional designed family house which was built in the 1970's and occupies an enviable position having wonderful views across the valley.

The house is approached over a tarmac driveway which leads to a gravelled parking area in front of the house with the carport and implement store to the side. The house is arranged to provide light and airy accommodation which includes a dining hall, triple aspect drawing room with a raised hearth and Fireline inset stove: sitting room with extensive book shelves and the kitchen with an electric, 3 oven Aga. There is also a cloakroom and utility room as well as a rear porch having access to the integrated double garage.

On the first floor there are four bedrooms all of which have built in cupboards or wardrobes. The principal bedroom has its own bathroom and dressing room. There is also a triple aspect study which could be used as a fifth bedroom if required.

The gardens and grounds are a particular feature of the property and help create an idyllic setting. On the valley side there is a level croquet sized lawn which falls away to an informal area of garden where there are fruit trees. To the side of the house is a terrace with raised vegetable boxes, a greenhouse and a substantial timber garden shed. The drawing room has direct access onto a paved terrace as does the sitting room. A footpath is found beyond the garden hedge and forms part of the property. In all the property extends to about one acre.

The Cotswolds supports picturesque villages throughout but Chedworth is one of my favorites.
