  • Linden Park is an attractive property set around a courtyard, dating back to around 1885 and is the former stables and coach house to a nearby mansion house. In recent years the accommodation has been extended into the old stables providing spacious and comfortable accommodation throughout. The property has an attractive stone build with slate roof and interesting period features both inside and out. At one stage Linden Park had one of the first hydro-electric systems in Scotland and the evidence of this can still be seen throughout the grounds where there are a series of ponds and sluices along with an old turbine house.

    The kitchen / dining room has recently been opened up to create a large open plan space with room for a dining table. The recently installed kitchen has a central island and a range of built in appliances and looks over the courtyard and front garden. Adjacent to the kitchen is a dining room /study which provides a link to the rear hallway which has a door through to the sitting room and drawing room. The sitting room is a cosy space with an open fire and door through to the south facing greenhouse via the garden room.

    Behind the house, there is a productive vegetable garden with segmented beds. There is also a large south facing greenhouse which is 16m x 5m, capable of providing a variety of fruit. Adjacent to this is a 30 m dog run with log store.

    Further afield, there is a substantial area of woodland with wonderful secluded walks. The Trow Burn runs through this and sluice gates can be opened to form a further burn, creating an island. The woodland has a lovely mixture of deciduous trees, including horse chestnut, lime and ash, together with some coniferous trees. The burn is crossed in two places by bridges, the bridge nearest the house having wonderful conical turrets at each corner. On the west side of the burn is an orchard which has been planted with a variety of fruit trees and to the north is the old turbine house.

The town is well situated with good transport links: the terminus of the Scottish Borders Railway is 20 miles north, while both mainline train services and Newcastle Airport are 52 miles to the southeast.
