About this property

  • Balgownie is an impressive and attractive traditional mansion house with a flexible and practical layout. The accommodation has been finished to a high standard with a layout which is well suited to modern day family living.

The house has a typically Georgian front facade with an offset pillared doorway. It is white harled under a pitched slate roof. The accommodation is arranged in two elevations with the principal elevation being complemented by a rear elevation containing the impressive kitchen / breakfast room. There are paved courtyards to either side giving access to the back door to the east and the large games room to the west.

Internally, the front facing dining room and drawing rooms are particularly fine. A family room links to the superb modern kitchen / breakfast room at the back of the house. There is a study and large games room to the west and a gym in the wing to the east. Many original features such as plaster cornices, fireplaces and window shutters remain and there is oak engineered board flooring.

The house has been refurbished and benefits from having been fully rewired and replumbed, with high quality bathrooms throughout. All the guttering was replaced with solid, cast iron guttering in 2021. The house and garage are fitted with a fully serviced alarm system.
