About this property

  • Fordhead is a late 19th century farmhouse set in a courtyard setting. The house is formed over two levels and built under a slate roof. It is presented in excellent order and comprises some 3640 sq ft or thereby.

A glazed entrance door from the courtyard to the rear of the house leads directly into the rear porch with access to the open plan sitting room and kitchen. This is a wonderful light and airy space with sitting area with wood burner to the rear, dining area and then on to the recently added modern kitchen. The kitchen is well fitted with contemporary units with open shelving, central island with breakfast bar, heather AGA, double doors to the garden and further door to the side. From the sitting area a staircase leads to the upper floor and also there is also a door leading to the family room/formal dining room. An inner hallway has windows to the front over the garden. Off here is the impressive drawing room with fireplace and window to the front. There is a study/downstairs bedroom with pretty fireplace, and a shower room completes the ground floor. A curved ornate wrought iron staircase from the inner hallway leads to three bedrooms and a shower room. From the main bedroom with walk in wardrobe is access to a wonderful four piece bathroom with freestanding bath and separate walk in shower.

With its own separate access is a two bedroom self contained annexe with kitchen, shower room and sitting room with doors out to a private garden.

The gardens of Fordhead are impressive and mainly laid to grass with mature trees, shrubs and a pond. There are several patio areas and parking for several cars in the courtyard.
