About this property

  • Birnock Lodge is an elegant, Category B Listed Victorian country home set over three levels and surrounded by beautiful mature gardens. Originally built in the late 19th century , the property offers a wealth of carefully preserved traditional features and an abundance of space.

The accommodation on the ground floor starts with an entrance vestibule leading to a grand reception hallway which is rich with hardwood finishes including a hand carved staircase balustrade. Off the hall is a magnificent drawing room with ornate plaster cornicing, dual aspect bay windows and two feature fireplaces. There is a formal dining room with bay window and an additional reception room in the form of a cosy sitting room at the back of the property, adjacent to the library. The property benefits from two kitchens: one sits off the dining room and is particularly useful for hosting and prepping with a range of base and wall mounted units along with an electric hob and oven, while the other is particularly welcoming in the winter with its two oven AGA and plenty of room for a breakfast table. The ground floor is completed by a handy WC.

Leading up the stairway, the first floor is strikingly lit by two cupolas which bathe the generous open landing in natural light. From here there are seven exceptionally spacious bedrooms, three with access to en suite bathrooms. There is also a main shower room. The main stairway also leads down to the lower ground floor which offers even more space. This level comprises a wine cellar, boiler room, WC, various stores and two flexible rooms currently used as a study and office. From here there is also access out to the gardens via the side of the property.

The delightful gardens are a credit to the current owners. They are impressively big, partially lawned and are bordered with well-kept paths which follow along the Birnock Water, offering picturesque walkways over the grounds. The driveway offers ample parking space for multiple vehicles.
