It is believed there has been a mill on the site since the time of the Domesday Book. The current buildings are thought to date from the 16th or 17th century and were originally known as Barton Mill and Barton Mill Cottage but in recent years have simply been The Mill House. The properties were renovated in the 1980's when floors were added to the Mill and they were linked by a single story building in the east corner.
