  • Oswaldkirk lies between the North York Moors National Park and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has the Malt Shovel public house, a thriving village hall and GradeII* listed church. Further amenities are in the neighbouring village of Ampleforth (about two and a half miles) including a shop, two public houses, a primary school, doctors' practice and the eponymous College which is about one and a half miles.
  • A wider range of facilities are also available at the nearby market town of Helmsley (about four miles). Thirsk about 15 miles) has a railway station that runs regular services to London Kings Cross in about two hours as well as a service to York, Leeds and Manchester Airport.
