    • Harome is one of the prettiest and most sought after North Yorkshire's villages, and in 2023 this tiny village was named one of the 'poshest' in the UK by The Times. Set at the foot of the Moors and around 2 miles east of the popular market town of Helmsley and 24 miles north-east of York. It is home to The Star Inn, with its Michelin Starred Restaurant with country hotel. Elsewhere are several listed buildings and an idyllic duck pond, overlooked by the award winning Pheasant Hotel.
    • Just over two miles away is the award winning Beadlam Grange Farmshop and Tea room with a butchers, delicatessen and greengrocery including a toddler play area.
    • Helmsley (2.7 miles) is a fabulous town with a weekly market and an excellent selection of independent, local shops including clothes stores, a doctor's surgery, delicatessens, cafes, restaurants, hotels, a spa and a local brewery. In addition there is an arts centre showing films and plays, as well as hosting yoga, exhibitions and concerts. Further attractions are the open air swimming pool, Helmsley Walled Garden, International Centre for Birds of Prey, Helmsley Castle and Duncombe Park.

There are supermarkets, two breweries, restaurants, the Talbot Hotel, cookery school, tearooms, a cinema, theatre and Castle Gardens five acres of park. Malton and Norton golf club boasts 27 holes and situated about a mile outside Malton. In addition there is Malton Secondary School (Ofsted Good 2023) located on Middlecave Road.
    • The historic market town of Pickering (12 miles) is known as the gateway to the Moors. The town boasts a number of public houses, supermarkets, leisure and sport facilities, local independent shops and cafes as well as a 13th century castle, the North York Moors steam railway and a museum.
    • Dalby Forest is about 18 miles distant with countless walks and cycle trails through stunning scenery, an adventure course and on site cafe. A dark sky discovery site, it is an excellent location for stargazing.
    • The A170 from Helmsley links to Scarborough and the Yorkshire Coast.
    • York is about 25 miles to the south and the A1(M) is about 22 miles to the west. Direct trains to London run regularly from Malton, Thirsk (16.6 miles) and York, some making the journey in under two hours.
    • There are superb attractions within the area including the renowned stately home Castle Howard with its farm shop and fabulous gardens (10.9 miles) and the coastal resorts of Whitby (33 miles), Scarborough (30 miles) and Filey (34 miles).
