  • Dun Taigh is situated in a lovely rural setting to the south of the River North Esk, which is the county boundary between Angus and Kincardineshire, and between Brechin and Montrose. It is very conveniently located with the easily accessible A90 dual carriageway providing fast access to both Aberdeen and Dundee. Journey times to Aberdeen and Aberdeen Airport have been much improved with the opening of the Western Peripheral Route.
  • There is local shopping in the nearby village of Hillside which has a shop / post office and a primary school, and at Stracathro Services. More extensive shopping, together with banks, secondary schooling and a swimming pool and leisure centre are found in Montrose, which also has a railway station with regular services to Aberdeen and to the south, including a sleeper service to London. In addition there is a railway station at Laurencekirk. Private schooling is available locally at Lathallan and at Dundee High School with both having a dedicated bus service from Brechin. Aberdeen Airport has a range of domestic and European flights and there are services from Dundee to London Stansted.
  • There are popular beaches at Lunan Bay and St Cyrus. Away from the coast lie the Angus Glens. Fishing can be taken on the rivers North and South Esk, while local golf courses include Montrose, Brechin and Edzell. Montrose Basin is a nature reserve which is renowned for its wide variety of migrating birds. House of Dun (National Trust for Scotland) is nearby and has lovely walks.

  • Dun Taigh is a most impressive and well designed modern country house. Situated in a rural location it enjoys extensive views over Strathmore and beyond to the Sidlaws and to the Angus Glens, including Glenesk. Facing south west it enjoys fabulous sunsets. It is an area that is a haven for wildlife. Whilst rural it is very conveniently located, with easy access to the A90 and to local towns. Completed in 2013, the house has been imaginatively designed and built by the well known J W Souttar, Architectural Services and Building Construction. Externally it is most attractive and has a Fyfestone, harl and timber cladding finish with a slate roof. Internally it has been thoroughly well designed for both modern family living and for entertaining. At the centre of the house is the hall with a solid oak staircase to the first floor, where there is an upstairs sitting room, which makes the most of the extensive views. Also upstairs are the master bedroom and two further bedrooms, all with en suite facilities and the study / gym. Downstairs, the accommodation is arranged off the hall. At the heart of the house is a large and very well equipped kitchen with bi-folding doors linking to the decking. Either side of this are the family room and the dining room. Continue on this road for 1.9 miles and Dun Taigh is the third house on the right. Alternatively on the A935 (Montrose to Brechin road), some 4 miles from Montrose and 5 miles from Brechin, adjacent to House of Dun, take the turning signposted Stracathro and Edzell. Continue on this road for 2.8 miles and Dun Taigh is the second house on the left.
