About this property

  • Property
Oak Tree Barn is an impressive and comfortable home, complete with self-contained wing, and forming part of small collection of barns set peacefully at the end of a long drive surrounded by unspoilt countryside. The barn has eco-friendly credentials including a bio-mass heating system and solar PV.
Converted by the current owner to a unique design, the barn enjoys wonderfully spacious living areas throughout typified by the double height vaulted entrance and dining hall, with impressive fireplace. This leads to all main rooms such as the sitting room, with double sided woodburner linking back to the dining hall and a large kitchen/breakfast room with bespoke units. Further useful rooms include a utility, study, ground floor bedroom with en suite and a delightful orangery looking out over gardens and to the meadows beyond. The master bedroom with en suite bathroom is on the first floor, separated from the other two double bedrooms by a galleried landing. There is a family bathroom and reading area. Adjoining the barn to the south is a well presented self-contained wing, separately rated. It is currently a lovely home for a family member with double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen/breakfast room, sitting room with wood burner and a large south facing conservatory.

Oak Tree Barn is approached via a long shared driveway, spurring off to the private entrance to the barn into a gravelled parking area which continues on to the self-contained wing, there is parking for plenty of cars and this area adjoins the garaging. The mature gardens are mainly laid to lawn, with a more formal area to the south-east with flower beds on the borders and a paved terrace with fine views over the water meadows to the south. The lawns continue and sweep down to an expanse to the south with some distinctive specimen trees on the boundary. A gravel path leads from the driveway around the house to the south and linking the areas of garden as well as providing access to the games room, measuring circa 36 x 17 and providing a brilliant space for many uses. Further to the double garage are store rooms and a large workshop measuring circa 32 x 16.
