About this property

  • Joiner's Cottage is one of the prettiest cottages in Meikleour and is C Listed. Tucked away in a lane of similarly charming cottages it has a peaceful location in the heart of the village. The property has been beautifully maintained and while the kitchen and bathrooms have been modernised, the cottage has lots of traditional charm with period fireplaces in the bedrooms and reception rooms as well as timber panelled doors and painted pine lining around the windows. The sitting room and dining room are located in the original part of the house and look out into the village. The sitting room is a lovely cosy room with an open fireplace and a wall of built in book shelves. The dining room has a similarly beautiful fireplace as well as a useful pantry/wine cellar which fits neatly in the space under the stairs. The dining room links directly to the kitchen which is in an extension to the original part of the house. The kitchen is fitted with painted cream cabinets and a gas range cooker. From the Belfast sink there is a lovely view over the garden. There is also a utility/boiler room and a bathroom with roll top bath and shower. The cottage can be entered by the front door from The Row, or by the more often used back porch which has space for boots and coats.

Upstairs there are two pretty bedrooms with dormer windows and fireplaces. Bedroom 1 has an en suite shower room while bedroom 2 has built in wardrobes.

The garden at Joiner's Cottage is a particular feature of the cottage. It has been thoughtfully planted and landscaped and is beautifully looked after. At the far end of the garden is a summer house which provides a lovely place to sit out and enjoy the garden.

Blairgowrie, which is only 6 miles away, has a good choice of shops, supermarkets, cafés and restaurants as well as health and professional services. Dunkeld is 9 miles to the west of Meikleour and with its historic cathedral and riverside position is very picturesque. These include salmon fishing on the nearby rivers Isla and Tay, pheasant and partridge shooting on local estates and stalking and grouse shooting on the higher ground a little further north. The house is well placed for the ski slopes of Glenshee, and for getting into the Perthshire hills as well as the Angus Glens.
