A renovated and charming Grade II listed cottage in a tranquil village setting

About this property

  • Tucked within earshot of the gently flowing Blockley Brook and set in the grounds of one of Blockley's former silk mills, this charming Grade II listed, three-storey, one-bedroom period cottage offers timeless character and early Victorian charm. Ideally suited as a second home or a holiday let investment, it truly deserves to be seen in person.

Accessed through an archway into a secluded, wooded setting beside the mill stream, the cottage enjoys a uniquely peaceful and protected location. For the past 22 years, it has been successfully operated as a holiday rental and has been recently refurbished by the current owner.

Inside, the ground floor features a welcoming kitchen-living space complete with a rustic brick fireplace and a cosy wood-burning stove. The kitchen is stylish and well-fitted, while comfort is assured with gas-fired central heating from a modern combination boiler. Additional amenities include a well-appointed en suite bathroom on the top floor, as well as a convenient cloakroom with WC on the ground floor.

Period details abound, including leaded small-paned windows, two built-in window seats in the first-floor sitting room, and exposed beams and roof timbers throughout. Outside, residents of the four cottages in this quiet mews enjoy access to a lawned area just beyond the front door, along with unallocated parking for one vehicle.

The setting is truly special, with the old mill race feeding into a large former mill pond, complete with a picturesque Monet-style bridge and landscaped gardens.

Blockley is one of my favourite villages, it's fun, vibrant, social and super pretty. This lovely cottage is in an ideal investment or weekend bolthole and is beautifully presented throughout.
