    About this property

    • East Wing is an exceptional period home forming the eastern half of an Edwardian country manor house. Formally High Wykehurst, commissioned by the Frecheville family in 1907, one of two houses in the parish designed by Ernest Newton RIBA. Situated in a tranquil elevated position the house boasts far reaching views to the south over formal gardens. East Wing has been tastefully updated in recent years offering impressive proportions and flexible living accommodation ideal for family and multi-generational living.

Approaching the property you are immediately struck by a sense of arrival. Upon entering through the front door into the welcoming entrance hall you are naturally drawn through to the main south facing bay fronted drawing room, magnificent in size with large sash windows, detailed ornate cornicing and large open fireplace with striking marble surround. Immediately adjacent, a kitchen/breakfast room of equally impressive proportions benefits from large central island, built in appliances, Rangemaster cooker and French doors onto a delightful rear terrace. A second reception room, which could be used as a formal dining room, also enjoys spectacular proportions.

To the rear of the property is a convenient back door giving access to a large secure gravelled driveway, a double oak framed garage with secure workshop and onwards to more formal gardens. A highly practical utility room is located to the rear of the house along with three large storage rooms and a large cellar offering scope for further storage. From the central hallway a wide, light filled, staircase leads you up to the wide first floor landing where the principal bedroom with superb proportions, large en suite and far reaching views over the rear gardens can be found. Two further double bedrooms, one en suite, and a spacious family bath/shower room complete the first floor. A further three, equally bright, double bedrooms and a shower room can be found on the second floor.

The formal gardens are a particular feature of the property, beautifully laid out and maintained with a paved terrace overlooking large level lawn. Beyond the gardens to the south is a beautiful woodland with bluebells in the spring and rhododendrons in the summer months. The outdoor space at East Wing is the ideal place to relax and entertain.
