About this property

  • Riversdale Cottage is believed to date from the late 17th century and exudes historical charm combined with modern comforts due to its more recent additions which provides spacious, flexible, beautifully presented accommodation.

The ground floor accommodation is thoughtfully designed, starting with a spacious reception hall that seamlessly leads into the stunning double-aspect kitchen/breakfast room. The bespoke kitchen cabinets are topped with solid oak worktops and there are French doors that open out to the whole width of the kitchen and lead onto the terrace and garden providing a wonderful feeling of “outdoors inside”. The kitchen is complemented by a utility room and cloakroom and most rooms have solid oak flooring. At the other end of the cottage is a study and a light and airy triple aspect drawing room which is divided into a formal area with a wood-burning stove set into the former inglenook fireplace, and a family area.

The property has two staircases and from the main staircase is access to two double bedrooms, both with built in wardrobes and the family bathroom. There is a further double bedroom with exposed wooden beams accessed through the additional landing. At the other end of the cottage is the principal bedroom which has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams, a large walk in wardrobe and an en suite bathroom.

Outside the property has a pretty cottage style front garden with lawn, flower bed with a stone and brick wall forming the front border. To the rear is a raised lawn with well stocked flower beds and terraces adjacent to the French windows providing lovely areas for outside entertaining. There is a garden shed, vegetable bed and parking for several cars which is screened from the garden by a Yew hedge.

I grew up in a cottage like this so feel very at home. It has some lovely rooms but the modern kitchen/breakfast room is superb and really lifts the whole place.
