Striking contemporary architect designed energy efficient property.
Acer House was completed in 2017 as one of a pair of striking architecturally designed detached houses within generous plots on the edge of the village. The property has sharp, white rendered structural insulated panel elevations, with irregular forms and angles creating style and interest and as one would expect, with large expanses of glass on the southerly elevations, maximising solar gain and flooding the house with light.
Internally the design features continue with a contemporary use of quality materials, intelligent lighting and shadow gaps replacing skirting boards. On the ground floor the principal reception rooms each have access onto a south facing sheltered terrace, embraced by the east and west elevations. On the ground floor a covered entrance gives way to a spacious reception hall with stairs to the first floor and feature marble wall. A study or fourth bedroom overlooks the terrace. A large well-appointed kitchen with picture window, island unit and dining area has sliding doors to the terrace. The eastern elevation provides a substantial double height room divided into two separate spaces by a partition incorporating a double sided inset fireplace. A utility room, plant room, shower room and cloakroom complete the downstairs accommodation. On the first floor is a part galleried landing, a principal bedroom suite with dressing area and bathroom, two further bedrooms and a bathroom.
Outside
The property is approached from the no through lane via a shared private drive which splits to provide access to Acer House. The property has a spacious gravelled area for parking and a level lawn with mature hedge and trees on the northern boundary. Access to a double garage is from the driveway, with electric vehicle charging point. To the rear of the garage is a kitchen garden, with raised beds, small terrace, greenhouse and shed. The main garden on the south side is principally laid to lawn, is level and enclosed by a mature boundary of varying species of trees and hedge plants. Immediately outside the house on the south is a spacious level terrace with a water feature and gravel garden.
Energy Efficiency
Acer House is very energy efficient. The super-insulated walls, floors and ceilings are complemented by thermally efficient double/triple glazing. An air source heat pump powers the underfloor heating and photovoltaic panels provide additional energy. A mechanical heat recovery ventilation system reduces heat loss and filters the incoming fresh air. A solar diverter supplements the hot water generation and any excess energy from the PV panels is exported back to the Grid.
