A breathtaking melange of classic and modern design
Its stark appeal is yet very natural as the delicate work of the architects is felt clearly throughout, as the new buildings seem to integrate smoothly with the neighboring structures giving a feeling as though they were always there. The architectural language takes up the classic town house rules of the historical Berlin building block and combines them with a contemporary abstraction to create a link to the surrounding large buildings, which integrate the project into the current urban context. In addition, the urban house typology is underlined by the division into base floors and upper floors. The materiality is also derived from the surrounding architecture, yet it is clearly reinterpreted in its form. High-quality natural stones provide the anchorage of the base in the urban space, while the upper floors are mainly characterized by the historical residential façade material – plaster - in tinted contrasts. In all, clearly structured facades support the representative character of the ensemble. The building project consists of a 7-storey block perimeter development with a very generous, spacious and green inner courtyard. The inner courtyard with its sufficient play and generous recreational areas is exclusively reserved for the private use and enjoyment of the residents.
