    About this property

    • Rose Cottage is a delightful four bedroom detached cottage which is elevated on a pretty tree-lined lane. The property is located in the Chilterns village of Lewknor, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

      The original cottage is dated from c.1624 (grade II listed) and has a pretty, red brick façade. The current owners have beautifully renovated and extended the home in 2020 to now offer four bedrooms on the first floor and an open-plan kitchen/dining room.

      A front porch creates a lovely entrance to the sitting room. The sitting room gives you an immediate sense of the history of the property with many characterful features including an inglenook fireplace with wood-burning stove, wooden ceiling beams and oak floor, adding to the sense of cosiness and warmth.

      The extended kitchen/dining room sits to the back of the home. The light, modern living area has been transformed to provide a great entertaining space. A light, sandstone flooring runs throughout, with underfloor heating and leads to the welcoming kitchen. The kitchen has been designed with a mixture of navy integrated cabinetry and a light timber accents. Integrated appliances include a wine cooler, fridge/freezer, electric ovens and induction hob. A social breakfast bar is perfectly incorporated and a set of French doors open out onto the rear terrace, ideal for entertaining during the summer months. A cloakroom is also available on the ground floor.

      On the first floor are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The principal bedroom has integrated, wardrobes and a modern en-suite bathroom. The family bathroom is neutral and is finished with a brick wall tile.

      Outside;
      The property occupies two different facets to the garden. To the front is a raised, lawned area with a light picket fence creating a boundary. The front of the property provides a pretty aspect of the church and surrounding trees and greenery. An unexpected feature is a gate on the property boundary opening directly to the village green, ideal for children and access to many rural walks.

      To the rear of the property is a large, paved terrace, lined with mature jasmine plantings. In 2012 an existing gravel area was excavated and new retaining walls were introduced to create an off-street parking area for two vehicles. A large shed sits above the parking area for garden storage.
