Mature deciduous woodland between the Teme Valley and Malvern Hills
DESCRIPTION
The woodland is situated in the northern part of the Malvern Hills National Landscape, and located between the villages of Alfrick and Knightwick.
The woodland is predominantly deciduous woodland of native species, part of compartments 1 and 2 are designated as Ancient & Semi-Natural Woodland, with the majority as Replanted Ancient Woodland.
The majority of the woodland is dominated by ash and oak, with some small leaf lime. There are some mixed broadleaves such as oak, ash, birch, common lime and poplar, in compartment 5.
The woodland has several streams and small pools throughout the wood, and a stoned track network has been established in recent years.
In addition to the woodland, there are areas of pasture suitable for grazing with roadside access extending to approximately 28.9 acres (11.7 hectares). There is a large pond situated in the village with recently planted trees surrounding in, giving a parkland feel.
