The village has a dog loving community and there is a beautiful peaceful church, St Cuthberts, which is Orchards House neighbour and sits opposite the village Green. There is a community hall, post box and plenty of immediate walks and bridleways direct from the property, including The Thomas Hardy Way , plus the walks can also easily lead directly onto Martin Down.
