Area Guide

Bridge View is close to some excellent schools including St Peter's CE Primary School and Latymer Upper School (on St Peter's Road and King Street respectively) as well as St Paul's School for Girls the other side of the river. There are a main Post Office branch and a Royal Mail Delivery Office within a few minutes' walk. Natwest, Lloyds TSB and Barclays are all a short walk away on King Street and there is a Shell petrol station with a Marks and Spencer food store and Costa Coffee only a few minutes' walk away along with a Sainsbury's and Tesco Metro nearby

Excellent restaurants close by include River Café (Michelin Star and Zagat 27/30), La Trompette (Zagat's 28/30 and described in its review as stunning), Indian Zing (one of Fay Meschler's top five Indian restaurants in London), Potli, (described by Yelp and Foursquare as one of the best Indian restaurants in London) and others, all loved, such as Quantus, San Remo, Riva, Tosa and Pisarros by the river in Chiswick reach. Great places for breakfast include The Old Ship pub, Cafe Plumb and the Hampshire Hog, all within a few minutes' walk.

In addition to the local Hammersmith UCI cinema, the Apollo and Lyric Theatres and Riverside Studios are also near (but as with the schools, not so near that they disturb.

Enclosed by the hustle and bustle of Shepherd's Bush and Hammersmith, Brook Green is west London's best kept secret with an affluent and leafy vibe and a strong sense of community.

This is why the area attracts a wide spectrum of residents, from young families attracted by the great schools, to young professionals attracted by the gastro pubs and wine bars.
Brook Green was comprehensively developed in the late 19th century, but the architecture mainly dates from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and consists of Victorian and Edwardian terraces, mansion blocks and charming cottages.
Houses on Brook Green are very sought after with a mix of large Victorian and Georgian terrace houses and family homes. In addition, there are two main mansion blocks on the green: Queens mansions and Phoenix Lodge mansions, both of which have a great mix of apartments with the character and charm that a historical building has to offer.

All the roads heading west of the Shepherd's Bush Road also offer good sized Victorian town houses. Around Blythe Road are smaller but charming cottages, with a mix of some larger Victorian town houses heading towards Sinclair Road and Shepherds Bush. Sinclair Road offers a large range of apartments and makes great buy-to-lets, and first time buys.
Hammersmith Grove is a beautiful tree-lined street which offers a mix of wonderful and impressive Victorian villa style houses, and large converted apartments.

For smaller first-time family homes, try Brackenbury Village, which runs from Hammersmith Grove to Ravenscourt Park, providing charming cottages and family homes. Along Hammersmith Riverside there are splendid properties with amazing views towards Barnes.

Brook Green itself is a major focal point for residents especially those with children. The newly refurbished and re-designed £200,000 playground was made possible by fund raising through events such as Brook Green Day - which Savills is supporting this Summer - a great day for all the family which highlights the community spirit within the area.

Brook Green, Hammersmith and the surrounding areas are not short of bars and pubs, but the Havelock Tavern has to top the list, and is favoured by the locals for its great food and atmosphere - even winning the London Pub Award in 2011.
Venture off the beaten track to Blythe Road for wonderful homemade Italian food at Pentolina, or for a great steak visit the Popeseye.

All this and you are still only a short walk from the Westfield shopping centre and all it has to offer.

Both Hammersmith and Kensington Olympia, are served by the District line, with Hammersmith also having access to the Piccadilly line as well as the Hammersmith and City lines and Circle Line. Also just a short walk away is the Central Line at Shepherd's Bush. Olympia and Shepherd's Bush Stations provide trains to Clapham Junction with a journey time of about 15 minutes.

The A4, which runs through Hammersmith, becomes the M4 immediately to the west of the town, providing fast access to Heathrow (around 15 minutes away) and out to the West Country. In the other direction it also provides a quick route into central London towards Harrods and the West End.
