About this property

  • A full-height glazed screen with door opens into a two-storey reception area featuring an oak dog-leg staircase and glass balustrade overlooked by a galleried landing. In the living area tall front windows bathe the room in afternoon sunlight and two further sets of windows at the rear overlook the inner courtyard. The room has a tiled floor with underfloor heating opening into kitchen/family room, which is highly appointed with light grey colour-washed Shaker-style units topped with marble with matching eye-level cupboards. A large contrasting island unit with heritage blue finish incorporates an AEG touch-control hob with central extractor unit, integrated wine fridge and seating area on the opposite side for up to five stools. Further integrated appliances include two AEG ovens, integrated AEG fridge and freezer and a dishwasher. The room has a great sense of space enhanced by a vaulted ceiling with substantial exposed trusses. Double doors open onto the rear terrace. There is a utility room incorporating a sink unit with marble-style counter tops and space for white goods and eye-level cupboards. Opposite is a boiler cupboard with manifold for underfloor heating, a Valliant boiler and pressurised water tank. There is a ground floor cloakroom with w.c. and wash hand basin.

From the kitchen area a glazed link overlooking the central courtyard connects the principal living room, which is a magnificent room with a vaulted ceiling and four sets of substantial exposed trusses. The room has a great deal of natural light afforded by full-height ground level windows and doors and a feature first-floor fan light. At the opposite end of the property on the ground floor is bedroom 4 overlooking the courtyard with en suite shower room, tiled cubicle, w.c. and wash basin.

On the first floor the stunning landing is enhanced by a vaulted ceiling with exposed trusses. The main bedroom overlooks the gardens and beyond open countryside and provides a double wardrobe, en suite shower room with walk-in shower, w.c. and wash basin. There are two further bedrooms serviced by a bathroom with overhead shower, bath tub, wash basin and w.c.

The barn fronts onto a quiet single-track country lane with a broad driveway beside the barn which provides for parking and leads to the detached brick-built double cart lodge, finished with red brick under a clay-tiled pitch roof. The barn wraps around a substantial inner paved courtyard – a fantastic space for al fresco dining which captures the afternoon sun and looks out over the property's gardens and countryside beyond.
The gardens are enclosed by post and rail fencing to two sides, yew hedging and 6ft high bamboo fencing to the rear boundary. A private drainage system is incorporated within this area.

I love the mix of the traditional barn style exterior, contrasting with the fantastic features, designed for 21st century living.
