The house is Category B Listed, and is designed in a style akin to several other properties in the local area by renowned architect William Henry Playfair which include Dollar Academy and other houses in the town. The town also has a post office, health centre, dentist and newsagent in addition to several specialist shops, cafés, a pub and a restaurant. Dollar is best known for its long established Academy, which is often billed as one of Scotland's most respected independent schools. There is also Strathdevon Primary School in the town.
