The arable land at Somerton is located on the outskirts of the extremely popular market town of Somerton, a town with an extensive range of amenities including a 13th century church, shops, post office and primary school, business park and several public houses and a coaching inn. The town is ideally situated as it is within easy reach of the A303 and the bustling county town of Taunton. The land is surrounded by some stunning countryside in a renowned agricultural area.
The land formed part of the former Marconi radio station. The productive, 146 acre run of grade 3 arable land is divided into three, level blocks. The land is well drained with grade 3 typical
brown rendzina soil from the Sherborne series. Ideally, the land is suited to agriculture however also suitable for equestrian and amenity/conservation purposes. There are some concrete anchor points across most of the land that were used to support the former radio masts.
Lot 1 is a productive, level block of arable fields with road frontage onto Highbrooks Road extending to approximately 81.48 acres.
Lot 2 is a level productive grade 3 arable block of 3 fields, with direct road access just north of the A372 Langport Road. Approximately 49.36 acres. There is a small copse in the middle of this run of land.
Lot 3 is a level grade 3 single arable field with gated access from a council road. Currently
drilled into spring barley. Approximately 15.56 acres.
Directions: Directions (TA11 7JD) From Podimore roundabout on A303 take the exit signposted to Somerton and Langport on the A372. Continue of the A372 for about 3½ miles. Take the right hand turning onto the minor council road called Highbrooks Road ( not signed ) immediately after a copse of woodland on the right-hand side of the main road. The land will be identified in less than ½ mile by Savills boards on various gates across the run of land. Directions from M5, junction 25 take exit onto A358 signposted Curry Rivel & Langport. Follow for about 3 miles and turn left at Thornfalcon traffic lights onto A378 signposted Wrantage, North Curry stay on the A378 for about 10 miles and go through Langport until you reach a roundabout just after the Kelways Inn. Take the 3rd exit onto the A372 and follow this road through Huish Episcopi for about 6 miles. Go past the Lime Kiln pub and take the 2nd left onto Highbrooks Road ( not signed ) before the small copse of woodland. The land will be identified in less than ½ mile by Savills boards on various gates across the run of land.
